— About

One person. One menu bar. Eight tools I wanted to have at hand.

EIDevTools is a personal utility that grew up. I wrote it for myself, then noticed my colleagues kept asking for installers. Distribution stayed simple: a website and a .dmg.

— Engineering choices

Built native. No Electron.

01 — Native

Swift · AppKit

Native macOS — Swift + AppKit. No Electron, no Chromium, no embedded browser. The whole binary fits in roughly 10 MB.

02 — Menu bar

Menu-bar only, no Dock

Menu-bar only — no Dock icon. The app is a tool, not a destination. Most interactions go through global hotkeys; the menu opens only when you ask for it.

03 — Privacy

No server, no telemetry

Privacy by construction — no server, no account, no telemetry. The Translator is the single network feature, and it goes directly to Google Translate over HTTPS.

04 — iCloud

File-based sync

iCloud Drive sync — uses Apple's file-based sync, not a custom backend. End-to-end encryption is Apple's problem; EIDevTools never sees your settings in transit.
